Description

Cross connect wire is commonly used for connecting punch down blocks. This 100% solid copper wire is composed of two pairs or four conductors and rated at Category 3 standards.

CATEGORY 3

Category 3 cable, more commonly known as station wire, is an unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable used in voice telephone wiring. Category 3 cable is designed to carry digital data at 10 Mbit/s and can support 10BASE-T Ethernet.

CABLING STANDARDS

Network cabling standards are used internationally and are published by ISO/IEC, CENELEC and the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA). Since 1995, solid-conductor UTP cables for backbone cabling is required to be no thicker than 22 AWG and no thinner than 24 AWG, or 26 AWG for shorter-distance cabling.
